About the role
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer specializing in Python and routing algorithms. In this role, you will support the design and scaling of high-throughput services that power first-mile and last-mile delivery logistics.
Our expectations
- Min. 4 years of commercial experience in backend software development using Python and SQL.
- Experience in or very good knowledge of the logistics domain, network analysis, and routing (e.g., graph theory, road network modeling, Vehicle Routing Problem – VRP).
- Experience with programmatically utilized geospatial data (e.g., H3, spatial indexing, clustering algorithms, PostGIS).
- Knowledge of the cloud environments (Google Cloud Platform preferred) and modern infrastructure tools (Kubernetes, Terraform, Airflow).
- Promote engineering best practices, such as: Clean Code, TDD (Test Driven Development), CI/CD, rigorous code review.
- Ability to design and scale microservices-based architecture.
- Positive attitude, strong teamwork skills, and hold a university degree in computer science or a related technical field.
- Good command of English and Polish.
- Readiness to participate in workshops at the client's office in Warsaw once per month.
Main responsibilities
- Supporting the design and scaling of high-throughput services powering first-mile and last-mile delivery logistics operations.
- Co-developing Allegro's next-generation Delivery Optimization Engine (DOE) using network analysis and spatial optimization.
- Developing and implementing routing algorithms.
- Directly impacting and improving the efficiency of the company's logistics processes.
